Trevor attended a one week music camp at a college a few hours from our home. He seems to really enjoy playing the trombone and his band director at school thought it would be a great idea for him to go to a music camp. After applying back in March, he also applied for a scholarship through our middle school and won a scholarship that covered nearly half of the tuition!!
We took him to the campus on a Sunday afternoon, helped him get set up in his dorm room and stayed with him until he had his auditions out of the way. We wanted to stay long enough to meet his roommate but it just didn't work out that way. He was feeling a bit sad when we left him with nothing scheduled until supper which was 3 hours away and he none of the local students were attending. Terry and I both worried about him on Monday hoping we had done the right thing and wishing he had a cell phone to communicate with us. On Monday night we got a text from him using his roommates phone to tell us......HE WAS HAVING A BLAST! He was enjoying his roommate and had met several other kids as well.
After five days of camp, we went back on Saturday morning to listen to the bands perform and then the Camp Choir. Terry and I really enjoyed ALL the concerts but we were so impressed with what the directors can teach those kids in just FIVE days! He was incredibly tired after 11:00pm lights out and 6:00am wake up calls but he was full of stories of just how much he really enjoyed his time....and he can't wait to go back next year!
