A new smile is on the horizon.....

Today was the day that Trevor was fitted for braces for his top teeth. He has been a real trooper..... The orthodontist recommended that he wears the headgear for just a few hours today to get used to it and gradually work up to wearing it through the night. He is dedicated to getting rid of that ASAP so he put it on at 4:30 this afternoon and is wearing it through the night!! I hope he won't regret it but...
The first picture is for the "before" and the second is after he was fitted for the braces. He is anxious for the end result so that makes it all worth while.

After leaving the orthodontist, Trevor and I stopped at Wal-Mart for a few things. At the check out line, I put my purchases down and Trevor was behind me with his little purchase. The cashier asked if my order was seperate....or if it was going to be with my BROTHER'S purchase!! Needless to say, he made my month....make that my year!! I think Trevor was trying to get a few brownie points too, as he told me that I do look young....for my age! =-) Of course, after coming back to Alicia and Chris's, my family made sure that the feel good feeling didn't last!! Thanks for keeping me grounded, guys!! =-)

SK8TING

The kids and I love to go ice skating....since Terry hasn't found enough courage to TRY it, he stands outside the rink and mans the camera (which is VERY important). On Saturday afternoon, we took the kids skating for nearly four hours. Trevor is itching to get out there again....too bad my feet can't stay in skates as long as the kids' - but it has NOTHING to do age!

Snowman Treats

For the kids' Holiday Party, I found a treat idea to send to school. It was soooo easy but all the kids (5th graders and 2nd graders alike) enjoyed them! It was just miniature powdered donuts, powdered donut holes, small choco covered PB cookie and mini PB cup put together with frosting. YUMMY!

Origami

In preparation for our annual craft day next week, some parent helpers were taught an origami craft that we are to teach the students. I was even able to impress Trevor with my new-learned craft-he is the origami star in this house!! This can be used as a picture frame or you can push it together to look like a star - they will be able to put the picture in the center of this if they would rather. It should be fun!

Dress-Up Fun

While digging through the storage closet I dug out my wedding dress. The girls were just enthralled with looking at my wedding dress and, of course, Erin asked to try it on. After trying it on, she said that she wants to wear it when she gets married. I replied that it would be an honor to have my daughters wear my wedding dress for their own wedding someday. Erin (very seriously) replied "But Emily and I will have to get married on different days!". Which brings to mind a comment that Erin made last summer. She despises it when Trevor is hot and takes off his shirt - but one day while coming home in the car (all 3 in one row!!) Trevor took off his shirt. What a scene this caused - She kept saying how "insanely disgusting" he was for doing this. After a few minutes she was silent and then came out with "I am never going to marry a guy who doesn't wear his shirt all the time!" Needless to say, we WILL remember that little comment!

You will be missed, Grandma!

Terry's grandma passed away last night at the age of 92. We are so very thankful that she was able to join us for Thanksgiving last week. She was a wonderful, kind and loving grandma that left a wonderful example for us to follow. The saying that comes to mind is....."To know her, was to love her". The posted picture is of Gma with her great grandson from TX-taken on Thanksgiving Day.

One Person's Junk......My Treasure!!

I have (finally) completed my project in the stairway to Trev's room. I got an old wooden ladder from my father-in-law and my hubby hung it up for me. After a lot of collecting, I finally have MOST of our ancestors photos so I could hang them on the rungs of the ladder. I put the extras in an old window from (from Mom's attic in her old garage) and hung that on the next wall. The lettering that Mom made me (a long time ago) are finally up below the window frame.

Another treasure, is an old phonograph (1930s) that I got at a garage sale this summer for.....$1!!

At preps this year, my mother-in-law came home with an OLD suitcase belonging to someone I remember from my childhood. I am using it to store old photos, song books, etc.

Finally, while searching for a ladder at my in-laws, I also found an old metal lunch box that I, of course, promptly asked for. Dad asked if I would want another one - YES!! As of now, they are sitting on top of my pantry (a repurposed computer armoire after the old computer passed on!) in the kitchen.
