Young Eagles #2

 The moment Erin has been wanting for a L.O.N.G time had finally arrived!  Dad offered to take her to the EAA Museum for the opportunity to go up in an airplane for a 10 minute ride.  Anyone who knows Erin will know that she JUMPED at the chance!
The pilot was incredible and let the students control the plane if they wanted to.  She was just bouncing with enthusiasm when she landed because she was able to co-pilot the plane for most of their flight.  Her favorite story to tell was when the pilot put his hands behind his back and his feet right up to the seat to show her that she was flying the plane all on her own!  She said she never really had a dream before but now she does.....when she turns 13 years old she wants to start the classes to become a pilot!  Everyone needs to have a dream........

Young Eagle #1

 Trevor earned his Young Eagles Certificate this weekend when we took the kids to the EAA Museum in Oshkosh.  They have an awesome program in which they will take children ages 8-17 up in the air for a 10 minute flight free of charge. 
Originally, Trevor preferred to keep his feet planted firmly on the ground.  He said he didn't mind a bit to let his sister show him up.  But, as Terry was filling out the paperwork for Erin to take her ride, he decided that he would face his fear and go for it! 
Erin's ride was first so by the time she had landed he was ready to go up in the GlaStar 2 seater airplane.  The pilot did an awesome job of explaining how an airplane flies and the "student" had the chance to fly the plane if they wished.  He did take control for a bit and has decided that flying a plane is a great time and was ready to go again the next day!
Through this program, he is now a member of the EAA Museum through age 18 and is able to take an online ground school with one in-flight training towards obtaining a pilot's license if he would desire.  What an awesome experience!

You blow my mind!

Our middle school recently performed their annual musical put on by the 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  This year, the production was Everything Is Groovy.   Trevor was among those students that tried out and was given a part.  They worked many nights after school and put on an excellent show!

Trevor practiced his lines often and put up with a lot of our teasing!!  One of his lines was telling Hippie Girl with Flute, "You blow my mind!"  He told her this two different times.....and managed to bring laughs from the audience both times!  He also asked two girls not to think he was square just because he's an apple farmer and he can't play music!
