A Young Mathmatician

Last Wednesday, Trevor came home from school to tell me about a voluntary math test that he took along with half of the 120 sixth graders. He didn't have a very good feeling about it because he didn't finish in the allotted time so he needed to guess on a few and there were some pretty tough questions on there. I told him that I was just proud of him for taking it and it really didn't matter to me how he placed in the test. We both proceeded to "forget" about the test. The next night, I was supervising his robotics practice, when I heard from his teammate that she thought Trevor has placed first on the math test. Hmmmm-not a word from Trevor about this so... On the way, Terry called & asked the normal "What was new today" question. I thought that Trevor should have the opportunity to tell his dad about his placing so I just said that Trevor had something to tell him. Of course, Trevor had yet to tell ME about it!! Trev looked at me with a blank look until he was reminded with the word "math"! He did in fact place first place for the third year in a row in this VERY tough math test!!!! Keep up to great work, Trevor. I will need you to help me explain this stuff to Emily and Erin as they get older.

PS-Sadly, Trevor did NOT inherit his math skills from his mom.
