A few weeks ago I was asked to chaperone on Trevor's school forest field trip. This was the sixth year for me since I have gone with Trevor and/or the girls since
2004. It is always fun to go along and help with the different projects. In the past I have been assigned to the "low-ropes" course but this year I was on top of the "hill" and we were to give a writing assignment to do with nature...such as writing a poem, doing a story from an animal's point of view or write about the sites/sounds/smells of nature. The students that had turned in their homework, had good behavior, etc. were given the opportunity to do the zip-line. This is something that Trevor's previous class had done in fourth grade so he was looking forward to the opportunity to do it again. After getting all the safety gear on, they climb a 35 foot pole and are strapped in before stepping off of a perfectly good platform into......the air!! Those of you who know me at all know that I am very scared of heights.....and I have done this twice now (last year and again this year). But I don't plan to do it again until the girls are in 4th grade!!
